I have never been as disappointed and frustrated by a "professional" health establishment as the Monticello Medical Center. The recipient was rude and unhelpful...We took our ill daughter in at 7am hoping to have her looked at quickly but we were there for one hour in a patient room before the doctor came in. When she did come in she was rude, had a horrible attitude and asked us "What was wrong?" ...If we knew we would not be there!... She attended to my daughter for a measly three minutes! and when she left a second time it took her another hour before she came back to let us go home with antibiotics. Will rather drive an hour out of my way before taking any of my sick children here again!
I have been going to the Monticello Medical Center for about ten years now, pretty much since my son was born. We have always seen Dr. Becker and for a few years she was very nice but after that it all went down hill from there. The other doctors and nurses are just as bad. I refuse to go to the walk in clinic because it takes four hours to get in and out. The last time that I took my daughter to the walk in clinic, I came out of the room and found the doctor on the phone with a personal conversation. I know this because I stood there until she looked at me and asked "Can I help you with anything?" I said that I was just wondering when she would be in to look at my daughter since we have already been in there for as couple hours without anyone coming in. She said exactly what the nurse told me two hours prior to this, "I will be in there shortly". I now just take myself and my kids to the ER. Yeah they give us dirty looks because its not an emergency but a couple of the doctors are nicer and we get in and out as long as there are not emergencies, which understandable.
Every time we go there we are there for hours. I took my sick daughter there this morning and when the doctor FINALLY came in, she looked at my daughter for less than a minute. Then she says she will be right back and never came back. The nurse finally came back in and said we could pick her medicine up at the drug store. They said, "She doesn't think it's strep" ( I never even thought it was strep). The doctor had a crappy attitude and we never even had a chance to ask her any questions!
I've always gone here. I'm nearly 21, in the past the doctors didn't listen well and the walk-in took forever. Since I turned 15 I've had Kathleen Halverson (sp?) and Julie Becker and both of them were very nice and listened to me. Becker delivered my son and is now both my son and I's family doctor. She's very helpful, but I find it very annoying that it can take up to 24 hours to get an answer to a medical question if I call in. They have also done away with the walk-in clinic.
